A footbridge and waterfalls illuminated to celebrate 175 years of history

To mark its 175ᵉ anniversary in 2024, the Town of Hébertville wanted to transform Place des Moulins into an iconic evening venue, capable of capturing visitors' attention while highlighting its natural and architectural heritage. The challenge: to design an aesthetic, technical and sustainable lighting solution on a site near the water.

Leblanc Illuminations-Canada has risen to the challenge with a dynamic, intelligent lighting solution capable of adapting to any environment.

In this case study, discover how programmable lighting using DMX protocol, combined with a hybrid implementation (wired and wireless), has succeeded in creating a unique visual signature in Hébertville.

Project background

Objectives:

  • Create a strong point of attraction for citizens and visitors.

  • Showcase the new footbridge and waterfalls.

  • Integrate flexible, controllable and scalable lighting technology.

  • Overcoming terrain and distance constraints on a waterfront site.

Implemented technical solution

Technology

  • Lighting controlled by DMX protocol, enabling the creation of customized lighting scenarios (light effects, colors, effects).

Signal distribution

  • Use of wireless DMX signal to link the gateway's spotlights to those of the chutes → reduced need for wired infrastructure and more flexible installation.

Projectors used (HALTO range)

  • HALTO SPO 15 RGBL: highlights the architectural details of the bridge.

  • HALTO SPO 180 RGBL: powerful projection on waterfalls to accentuate water movement and create a spectacular effect.

Budget and implementation

  • Total amount: $26,500 before taxes (including equipment + technical support for programming)

  • Production: Leblanc Illuminations-Canada collaborated with the municipal technical team and a local electrician.

  • Fast, efficient delivery thanks to local coordination and dedicated company support.

Results and spin-offs

  • A landmark transformed by night

  • Adaptable lighting scenarios for different seasons or events

  • Enhancing local natural and architectural heritage

  • Enhanced local collaboration

  • Stunning visual effects without intrusive infrastructure

Conclusion & next steps

The Place des Moulins project is a perfect example of how well-thought-out lighting can create a "wow" effect while respecting the technical constraints of a sensitive site.

Hébertville wanted a striking design for its 175th anniversary → mission accomplished.

For towns wishing to create a lasting visual signature without weighing down their infrastructure, dynamic LED solutions are ideal. We support municipalities in designing distinctive lighting for their public spaces. Let's discuss your project.
