What if your town center became the next success story in lighting?

Many municipalities face a recurring challenge: how to revitalize their downtown area and make it attractive, safe and lively, summer and winter alike?
The town of Dolbeau-Mistassini has taken up this challenge with an original, evolving light installation. The project, developed from 2020 onwards, aimed to transform the boulevard Wallberg square into a warm and welcoming place, thanks to a "starry vault" ceiling of light.

In this case study, discover how a simple lighting scheme can boost traffic, strengthen the sense of community and improve the pedestrian experience in all seasons.

Project background

The objective was clear: to offer an immersive urban experience through a permanent ceiling of light above the shopping plaza.
The project was brought to life with festoon garlands with LED filament bulbsbistro-style, elegantly suspended to emphasize and embrace the architectural lines of the district.

Conceived as an evolving installation, the concept offers the possibility of adding seasonal or event-related elements, constantly renewing the surprise effect for passers-by.

Technical challenges & local implementation

The project was entrusted to a local electrical contractor, who was able to adapt the installation to the constraints of the site:

  • Uneven building heights

  • Harmonious integration with existing street lamps

  • Respect for safety and aesthetics

Technical advantages :

  • Nordic weatherproof garlands

  • Secure, discreet fastening systems

  • Integration into existing buildings

Project development

Since 2020, several new features have been added to enhance the experience:

  • 3D luminous spheres installed on lampposts to create a voluminous effect.

  • Seasonal illumination adapted to events.

Results and tangible benefits

The project has generated social, economic and aesthetic benefits:

  • Creating a friendly atmosphere that encourages people to get around on foot.

  • Showcasing local businesses, kiosks and events

  • Strengthening a sense of belonging and community pride

  • Increase in traffic observed.
