The Latest Trends in Festive Lighting for 2025
New trends in festive lighting are obviously influenced by manufacturers, but above all by customers. New designs and products only succeed in the market if they resonate with the public—it's as simple as that!
At Leblanc Illuminations, several designers work each year to create new decorations, while the research and development department designs innovative decorative elements, both illuminated and non-illuminated. Our sales teams are in the field to take the pulse of our customers.
We are therefore in a prime position to observe the emergence of trends. Here's what you need to know.
1. Arches and Passages
There is a real craze for structures that punctuate visitors' journeys around a site. Arches, often used to mark an entrance, come in an infinite variety of styles, from rustic to contemporary. They also make perfect photo booths!
But it iswalk-through decorations that are gaining in popularity. Often large in size, they impress visitors and immerse them in the magic of the illuminations as they walk through them.
2. The Neo-Traditional
Classic elements such as green fir branches (fir garlands) and baubles are considered traditional in the world of decoration. It is said that classics never go out of fashion. This is undoubtedly true, but we have noticed an overrepresentation of these motifs in the recent collections of various festive lighting suppliers. The challenge is therefore to integrate them into contemporary designs to showcase them and restore them to their rightful place.
Retro motifs such as bells, gingerbread men, and angels are also being revisited. Modernized in form or combined with new materials, they are contributing to the strong comeback of the neo-traditional.
3. Playful Decorations
In stark contrast to the neo-traditional style, a wave of whimsical, playful decorations is flooding the market: rockets, airplanes, eccentric characters, Ferris wheels... The only limit is your imagination!
Some seasonal collections focus on specific themes, such as the famous candy canes, which come in arches, three-dimensional decorations, and semi-abstract patterns.
Animals or characters in unexpected situations—a penguin on skis or an elf diving into a gift—add an irresistible touch of humor.
I'm trendy, aren't I?
4. The E-Deco
Made from recycled plastic using 3D printing, e-decor is revolutionizing lighting. It allows for the creation of openwork and airy designs to visually enhance installations, both day and night.
Used on surfaces to dress up certain decorations and make them more elegant, or on their own, suspended in trees or on buildings, these patterns in the shape of snowflakes, stars, gift boxes, and more, e-deco adds depth to decorations and enhances their aesthetic value in daylight, even when ambient light dims the brightness of LED
5. Summer Illuminations
Gone are the days when light decorations were reserved for the holiday season. Today, they brighten up the entire winter season—a great way to add light to the long winter evenings in our country.
Light installations also have their place in summer: illuminated paths, lighted ceilings, marquees, and lanterns create a festive atmosphere as soon as the sun goes down, encouraging people to stay out late into the evening.
6. Annual Festivals and Events
More and more, municipalities want to highlight different holidays throughout the year. After Christmas, Halloween is the most popular time for themed decorations: pumpkins, bats, skeletons... often in pole mounted decorations arches placed on the ground.
Valentine's Day, national holidays, and St. Patrick's Day are also making their appearance in the lighting landscape. As the budgets for lighting these events are more limited, lighting suppliers can offer rental packages to accommodate even the most modest budgets. In addition, thanks to RGB (remote-controlled) lighting equipment, it is possible to change the colors of a display to suit each event!
7. Adaptive Decorations
Because decorations represent a significant investment, the trend is toward modular installations. Their appearance can change with the seasons to remain relevant.
Photo booths are a good example: starting with a neutral structure, decorative elements specific to each celebration are added.
At Leblanc, the Boulliz decor perfectly illustrates this approach. This luminous sphere can be transformed to suit the occasion and season: snowman, bat, or Easter bunny, depending on the e-decor kit used to dress it up.
8. Photobooths
In the age of social media, photo backdrops have become essential. Headboards, benches, armchairs: everything can be used as a backdrop.
Photos taken in these settings travel across the web, providing great visibility for the city or business that installs them.
9. Microled
Indoors, Microled garlands are very popular. Their discreet cable allows you to create slim, elegant shapes. Applied to painted metal structures, they offer a refined look, perfect for environments where the public is close to the decorations.
Globes, stars, animals, Christmas trees... there is a wide choice to suit all tastes and themes.
