E-deco: the green revolution in urban decoration

Published on July 2, 2025 | Last updated on August 20, 2026

The E-deco range offers a daytime decoration approach, designed to maximize visual impact in broad daylight, both indoors and outdoors.

In a context where cities and businesses are seeking to combine visual appeal with environmental responsibility, traditional holiday decorations have become a real energy challenge. Installing holiday lights consumes electricity, ties up significant resources, and sometimes raises sustainability concerns.

At Leblanc Illuminations, our teams have reimagined decoration through the lens of eco-design. That’s how the E-déco line was born: an innovative solution that is both aesthetically pleasing and eco-friendly, and quick to produce, with or without built-in lighting.

In this article, discover how E-deco works, what eco-responsible materials make up our creations, and why this solution is attracting a growing number of communities committed to sustainable urban transformation.

What is E-deco?

The E-déco line offers a daytime decoration solution designed to maximize visual impact in daylight, both indoors and outdoors. It embraces boundless creativity in design and colors—whether translucent, opaque, flexible, or rigid. Manufacturing costs may be lower than or comparable to those of traditional decor. However, unlike conventional lighting installations, E-déco requires no electricity to deliver a strong visual impact during the day, while still being enhanced by lighting once night falls.

Designed for municipalities, city centers, shopping centers, seasonal events, or cultural projects, E-déco enhances spaces while reducing the carbon footprint of artistic interventions. The materials used are recyclable and sometimes even reusable, offering a solution that is both aesthetic and eco-responsible.

3D printing: a creative tool serving the environment

Manufactured from recycled or bio-sourced materials transformed into granules, the E-déco range relies on robotic 3D printing technology. This modern process guarantees great freedom of form, texture, and customization, while ensuring short production times perfectly suited to just-in-time production.

With a focus on proximity and agility, Leblanc Illuminations has invested in the international development of its workshops, enabling local production on demand. The result is less waste, reduced inventory, and a significant reduction in the carbon footprint associated with transport.

Eco-responsible materials at the heart of the concept

The core of the E-déco range is based on a rigorous selection of raw materials, chosen for their low environmental impact, durability, and aesthetic quality. Here are the four main materials we use:

1. Greenfib – bio-sourced material

Composed of a mixture of castor oil and wood fibers, this raw, undyed material offers an organic, golden, understated, and elegant appearance. 100% bio-sourced and renewable, it embodies our values of sustainable development.

2. Everstar – 100% recycled material

Derived from the recycling of freezer components, this white material is more delicate and not widely used today, but remains an innovative option for specific projects and demonstrates our commitment to exploring all avenues of recycling.

3. Rainbow – hybrid and versatile material

Used in 90% of our projects, this material is composed of 80% polyethylene terephthalate (PET), mainly from recycled water bottles, and 20% bio-sourced material. Transparent, lightweight, durable, and available in 14 colors, it enables vibrant, expressive, and sustainable creations.

4. Mellow – opaque and flexible material

Made from 70% window seals recovered from construction sites, this innovative material is ideal for covering structures with complex shapes. It offers an excellent alternative to decorative carpets or traditional daytime products, which are often not very durable. Resistant to Canada's harsh climates (wind, snow, rain, and frost), it allows for on-demand production without heavy supply logistics.

A solution for today's cities

More and more communities and businesses want to mark their territory with a strong visual signature without compromising their ecological commitments. The E-déco range meets this dual requirement:

  • Create a distinctive visual identity tailored for a street, a district, or an event

  • Capture the attention of citizens and visitors from day one

  • Reduce costs related to energy and electrical infrastructure

  • Affirm a concrete commitment to the environment

Conclusion

With E-déco, Leblanc Illuminations is redefining the standards of urban decoration: more sustainable, more accessible, and more creative. In a world where energy is becoming a precious resource, offering installations with very low energy consumption is no longer a luxury, but a necessity.
